Johnson and Johnson Announces Grant to the DMSCA Manufacturing Supplier Development Foundation to Support Minority Manufacturing Development and Digitalization for Industry 4.0 Supply Chains
New Brunswick, NJ. Today, Johnson & Johnson, announced a $123,000 CY22 grant to the DMSCA Manufacturing 501 (c )3 (Foundation) to support a development, digitalization, and workforce readiness of minority small- to-midsized manufacturers (SMMs) project for the competitive positioning in Multinational Enterprises’ (MNEs’) digitalized Industry 4.0 supply chains.
“We realize that the fourth industrial revolution, named Industry 4.o, is forever changing the supply chains of enterprises of all sizes and that supply chains are transitioning from linear to complex integrated data-driven supply chain networks to ensure long term resiliency. Further we understand that as large corporations transform their supply chains, so must all SMMs in their supply chain networks in order to ensure alignment” says Charlene Vickers, Global J&J Supplier Diversity Director.
Vickers adds says that “Given Johnson and Johnson’s commitment to fostering more value-added minority manufacturers’ content in its Industry 4.0 supply chains, this project specific grant helps to accelerate minority SMM inclusion by enabling:
- Five (5) suppliers to begin developing their digitalization roadmap which includes engagement in the Smart Industry Readiness Index (SIRI) assessment tool endorsed by the World Economic Forum
- The training of three (3) industrial engineers to become Certified SIRI Assessors (CSAs)
- One (1) supplier to participate in an advanced SIRI engagement that supports implementation of its Industry 4.0 Roadmap
Vickers noted that “DMSCA Manufacturing Supplier Development Foundation’s recognition as a World Economic Forum New Champion for its innovativeness and unique approach to SMM development for Industry 4.0 played a big part in its funding support decision, and, that Johnson & Johnson is also a Founding Member and an Executive Corporate Member of the Diverse Manufacturing Supply Chain Alliance (DMSCA), the Foundation’s strategic partner with the larger mission of diverse SMM development, digitalization, and sustainability in Industry 4.0 supply chains.
J&J’s contribution to the Foundation with that of other corporations can have an immeasurable impact in closing of minority SMM content in global supply chains.”
